Hinamatsuri Festival
Hinamatsuri Festival is also called “Girl’s festival” or “Doll’s festival”. On the 3rd of March, they celebrate and pray the sound growth of girls in the family. In this festival, they display a set of dolls including emperor and empress. It is said that if they delay putting away the set after the festival, the girl’s timing for wedding delays.
And also, in the festival, they eat “Chirashi-zushi” which is a kind of sushi with many scattered toppings such as salmon roe and sashimi on vinegared rice. Moreover, they eat colourful rice crackers which taste sweet. In Japan, there are many festivals about Doll’s festival.
Especially, in Nagano, there is a festival where about 6,000 dolls are displayed in Suzaka Art Park. It is open from 1/18 to 4/19. I recommend you to visit there to experience the big scale.

Koinobori
Koinobori is a carp streamer. It has relations with Children’s day. Girl’s festival is held in March, while on the 5th of May, “Boy’s festival”. In the festival, they hang up the carp streamers outside their houses and they pray the sound growth of boys in the family.
And also, inside the house, they display ornamental helmet (kazari-kabuto) and eat traditional foods such as “chimaki” and “kashiwa-mochi” on that day. In Takatsuki, Osaka, Japan, there is the best spot to see Koinobori. You can see about 1,000 carp streamers.

Cherry Blossom Festival
In spring, you can usually see cherry blossoms in Japan, I recommend cherry blossom festivals in Megro river, Tokyo. There, cherry blossoms open along the river. And you can enjoy both daytime and night time. Moreover, some shops are open such as restaurants which are selling fried potatoes and ice cream. Shall we visit Megro river to see about 800 cherry blossom trees along 4km.

Rape blossoms
Rape blossoms are called Nanohana in Japanese. In Japan, you can often see the field of rape blossoms in spring season in Japan. And also, Japanese people are eating Nanohana as original and oil. Mather Ranch in Chiba is the best spot to visit the field of rape blossom. From the bottom of February to the middle of April, you can see them very well.
Moutaing climbing season
When winter finished and spring is coming, the mountains are also opened because it is getting safe after snow disappeared. In Japan, in order, spots to climb mountains are open for hiking visitors.
In Nagano, there are more mountains compared with usual, so especially I will introduce mountains’ opening time in Nagano. For example, Kamikouchi which is near to Matsumoto and famous for clear water and beautiful landscape with the Japanese Alps mountains is usually open from the bottom of April.
