Before the after World War 2, Labor Thanksgiving Day was Niiname-Sai (新嘗祭) that celebrated to harvest crops and rice. But after WW2, the Japanese goverment decided to “this day is not only farm but also service labor and more”. So the name was changed to Labor Thanksgiving Day.
