Kamakura (鎌倉) is a small city in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan. Kamakura is located just near Tokyo. The JR Yokosuka Line for Zushi is the earliest connection from Tokyo to Kamakura. It takes about 1 hour. Kamakura is an ancient place, so there are many historic destinations in a small area.

In addition, not only Kamakura has nature and mountain but also has seen and coast. A lot of Japanese people have attracted these points of Kamakura.

ACCESS KAMAKURA DAY TRIP FROM TOKYO

Kamakura from Haneda Airport

There are some ways to get from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Kamakura. But we recommend taking the bus from Haneda Airport Terminal 1 Station to Yokohama Station. After arriving at Yokohama Station, taking the train from Yokohama Sation to Kamakura Station. This way takes around about 1 hour and about 1,000yen.

Kamakura from Narita Airport

If you have a little time, you want to visit Kamakura early, you should use the train. Firstly taking the Narita Express from Narita Airport Terminal 2 Station to Yokohama Station. Secondly Taking Shonan Shinjuku Line from Yokohama Station to Kamakura Station. This way takes around about 2 hours and about 4,000 yen.

We recommend taking the Shonan Shinjuku Line because you can direst from Shinjuku Station to Kamakura Station! This way takes 1 hour 10 minutes and about 920 yen.

KAMAKURA BUDDHA STATUE (KOTOKU-IN TEMPLE)

Kotoku-In temple (高徳院) is one of the most visit places in Kamakura. There is a symbolic bronze statue of Buddha, Japanese name is Daibutsu (大仏), and English translation Big Buddha. The Big Buddha is built-in 1252. It is about 14 meters tall (including the base.)　Actually, there was a roof on the Big Budda until 1495. But the roof was destroyed by Tsunami.

Nearby Kamakura, there is a famous island in Japan. The island’s name is Enoshima (江の島). Enoshima is a small island off the Shonan coast of Kanagawa. Especially, Enoshima Shrine is well known.

Enoshima shopping street (Nakamise street, 仲見世通り) is a slope from the bridge to Enoshima Jinja Shrine. The shopping street is the most crowded place in the island because the street is narrow and long. There are lots of food shops on the street so visitor can enjoy eating while walking.

Enoshima Shrine

Enoshima Shrine (江の島神社) is a place that visitor cant’s miss Enoshima day trip. This shrine believes to represent Benzaiten, the goddess of the ocean. Actually this shrine is called one of Japan’s three great Benzaiten. There is a long cue every day and every time. But Enoshima Shrine you should pray whenever you visit Enoshima.
