Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park|Japan’s February ContentⅠ

Jigokudani(地獄谷) is the valley located in the North area in Nagano. In this valley, there are sheer cliffs and much smokes. So people have called this valley Jigoku (Jigoku means hell) Dani(It means Valley). 

The good point in this area is that you can see Japanese monkeys. These monkeys charm point is a pink face. Not only you can see wild monkeys but you can do Wild monkeys taking a hot spring! They are cute because of a pink face. You can also watch more pretty monkeys since their faces are turning red while they are taking a hot spring.

Lake Suwa

Leke Suwa(諏訪湖) is the lake located in Suwa city where the city is a south area in Nagano. In this lake, beautiful scenery is seen as a sea. Lake Suwa is 13.3 k㎡, which is famous for “Kimiinonawa”, Japanese anime movie. So many people want to come to this lake. 

During February, there is a fantastic phenomenon in Lake Suwa. Because of shrinking and enlarging, the surface of Ice is broken and crack starts to arise. This straight crack road is named ”Omiwatari(御神渡り)”. This road is beautiful and fantastic. If you can see Omiwatari, you are so lucky because Omiwatari has occurred about once in three years. 

You can go to Lake Suwa in 40 minutes by train from Matsumoto station.

Emuwave Arena|Japan’s February ContentⅢ

Emuwave(エムウェーブ) is one of the biggest arenas in Nagano. In 1998, the Olympic was held in this arena and many foreign athletes used Emuwave. Many people come to Emuwave to enjoy playing skate.  It’s impressed to play skate in the former Olympic location.

Emuwave is located in Nagano city(a big city in Nagano). So you can go easily.

Kamakura no Sato, Igloo Snowhouse Festival|Japan’s February Content Ⅳ

Snow festival in Iiyama city, Nagano

Kamakura no Sato(かまくらの里) is in Iiyama city which is a north area in Nagano. Kamakura is a Japanese traditional dome made from snow. Temperature is very low in winter but it is warmer in a dome unless the materials of Kamakura are snow. 

In Kamakuranosato, there are many domes with candles and lights. You can eat food in the domes and enjoy fantastic Kamakura with candles.

Nozawa Onsen|Japan’s February Content Ⅴ

Nozawa Onsen(野沢温泉) is well renowned in Japan. Nozawa Onsen is located at the foot of Kenashi mountain which has a resource (gensen) at its center. Nozawa Onsen is a popular hot spring health. There are 13 atmospheric public bathhouses called Soto-yu in the Onsen district.
