The Nagano Olympics were held from February 7th to February 22nd, 1998 in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, and the surrounding area. This is the second time that the Winter Olympics have been held in Japan for the first time in 26 years since the 1972 Sapporo Olympics. The Nagano Olympics were selected from five candidate cities in the voting by the 97th International Olympic Committee General Meeting held in Birmingham, England in June 1991 and decided to be held in Nagano.
The event was attended by 4638 players and officers from 72 countries and regions, with a total of 1,442,700 spectators coming to the event. The place actually used in the Nagano Olympics that showed such excitement still remains.

Minami Nagano Sports Park (Nagano City)
Minami Nagano Sports Park was used as a venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. Currently, there are baseball fields, soccer fields, sports facilities such as gymnasiums, lawn open space, etc., and many people use them. It is also used as the goal venue for the annual Nagano Marathon.
M-wave (Nagano City)
M-wave was used as a venue for speed skating. Among the facilities is the Nagano Olympic Museum, where the actual equipment used in the competition is displayed. You can visit the museum for free. It is currently used as an ice-skating rink in a concert venue and in winter. There are days when the skating rink is free to open, and you can enjoy skating for free on the runway.
Central Square (Nagano City)
Central Square was used as an award ceremony venue for the Olympics. Currently, the city park that is scheduled to open in the spring of 2020 is being developed, but the existing memorial park still intact. There are stages and podiums used at the Olympic awards ceremony, mini torch and so on.
