This trail connects between Kyoto and Tokyo. This was born in 1601. Along the trail, there are many Shukubamachi(Post-town) which means the place to stay for travelers.

Magome to Tsumago trail is a part of Nakasendo, about walking by 2 and 2 1/2 hours. In the Edo Period, Many merchants and travelers were on this road. It is 20 minutes by car, but you can enjoy the historic townscape and nature forest by walking. It has been popular with foreign tourists since the 2010s.

How to Access Tsumago Juku Post Town from Tokyo
We will take Shinkansen to Nagoya from Tokyo, It takes about 1.5 hours. And then we will take Tokkyu Shinano Rail from Nagoya to Nagiso, it takes about 1.5 hours. Finally, we will take a taxi for ten minutes from Nagiso station.

Narai Juku Post Town on Nakasendo
In Narai-juku, the view of the old street has been maintained and these buildings were built by using unique local techniques. And they have historical and academic values.
How to access Narai Juku Post Town from Tokyo
We will take JR rapid train called Chuou Honsen from Tokyo station to Shiojiri station in Nagano, it takes about 2.5 hours. And we will exchange another JR local train from Shiojiri to Nrai station. Finally, we will walk for 3 minutes from the station to the destination.

e-Bike Cycling Tour in Tateshina Town on Nakasendo
Tateshina town (立科町) is located in Saku area in Nagano prefecture. Near Ueda City which is famous for it’s historic Ueda Castle, and also Karuizawa, a famous summer resort. In Tateshina Town, you can see a deep relation between the natural environment such as the birch forest and the town’s historic townscape s which attracts people.

Can we walk Nakasendo? How can we go to Nakasendo Magome to Tsumago Trail Hiking from Kyoto and Osaka?
Nakasendo is very difficult to walk for the whole road because a long before it was the road connecting Kyoto and Tokyo. However, we can go around by bicycles or on foot for two and three hours each spot such as Kiso Umagoi-Juku~Tsumago-Juku.
In Kyoto, there is also Nakasendo because it is a road connecting Kyoto and Osaka. However, if Nakasendo which you want to go may famous spots such as Umagoi-Juku and Tsumago-Juku, it is better to take Shinkansen from Kyoto station to Nagoya station and take rapid Shinano train to Nakatsugawa station for visiting Umagoi-Juku. It will take about 3~5 hours.
How to access Magome to Tsumago Trail from Tokyo
Tokyo to Magome Juku, where is the start place of Magome to Tsumago trail, is so far. Firstly you should take Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Nagoya Station.
Secondly, you should take Shinano Limited Express from Nagoya Station to Nakatsugawa Station at Gifu prefecture. Finally, you will take the bus Magome Line towards Magome from Nakatsugawa Station to Magome. This way is \13,200, take about 3h 40minutes.
