Takato Cherry Blossom Festival is canceled in 2020

Ina city announced “All Sakura Festival events canceled” in 2020 by Coronavirus (COVID-19). The below list is a canceled things list.

  • Admission to Takato Castle Park is free all-day
  • Night cherry blossoms will not be lit up (only night lights will be dark at night)
  • Circular buses and shuttle buses are canceled
  • Stalls in the park are not open
  • The park’s Koenkaku (paid resting facilities) is closed

History of Takato Castle Park

Takato Castle was built by samurai called Shingen Takeda during the age of civil wars, but it was broken in 1582. Old feudal retainers plant cherry blossoms in the trace of the castle to make rough forging equipped orderly.

In 1936, Takato Castle Park was completely built and 24 years after the cherry blossom called “Kohiganzakura” was registered as a natural monument in Nagano.

Cherry blossom is on the top of the hill, so when they open full, most of the hill changed into the pink color.

Last year, Takato Castle Park was open from 4/1 for 1 month. And it is open from A.M. 6:00 to P.M.10:00, that may be as same as this year. In the Cherry Blossom festival, we can enjoy seeing a clear panorama of cherry blossom while a day. At night, there is lighting up with a projector from about P.M. 6:00 to P.M. 10:00.

Access Takato Castle Park Cherry Blossom Festival from Tokyo

For public transportation, from JR Iida Line, Inashi station it takes about 25 minutes by bus and 15 minutes on foot. To Inashi station, we have better take a highway bus from Shinjuku, Tokyo. During Takato Castle Park Cherry Blossoms festival, you do not have better go by car because the road is very confused and in the parking area, only about 400 car can keep parking.

Must see spots Takato Castle Park

There are two attractions for visiting Takato Castle Park. Firstly, although you have to buy a ticket (500 yen) to enter the park, you can enter every time for a day, and also you can enter the historic building near to the park.

Secondly, there are 3 best spots to watch cherry blossom clearly; Ouun Bridge(桜雲橋),Shiro Usagi Bridge(白兎橋) and Takato Kaku (高遠閣).

In Ouun Bridge, cherry blossoms can be seen such as the tunnel and as they’re growing they look clouds of cherry blossom, And in Shiro Usagi Bridge you can enjoy both mountains called the Japanese Alps and cherry blossom.

Finally, in Takato Kaku you can watch from the same high as cherry blossom, so you can enjoy all of them.
